Information we receive

Information you choose to send

If you email us, we receive your email address and the information in your message. Please do not send passport numbers, visa numbers, booking codes, payment details, medical records, or other sensitive information. We use correspondence to answer questions, investigate corrections, protect the site, and improve our editorial coverage.

Technical and security data

Our hosting, content-delivery, and security providers may automatically process information such as IP address, browser and device type, requested URL, referring page, timestamps, response status, and security signals. This data is used to deliver the site, prevent abuse, diagnose faults, and maintain security. We do not currently require user accounts.

Audience and interaction measurement

We use Google Analytics with Advanced Consent Mode to understand aggregate page visits, referring search engines, page engagement, on-site searches, outbound links, and use of selected filters, search results, disclosure panels, planning tools, contact links, and support checkout links. Google Analytics automatically measures a page view, engagement time, a 90% scroll milestone, and supported outbound, search-result-page, and download interactions. We do not add separate events for every internal link, scroll percentage, time milestone, or consent choice. Site-search terms are shortened and obvious email addresses, long number sequences, or identifier-like values are redacted before measurement. We do not send form messages, exact trip dates, or attraction-filter free text to Google Analytics. Please do not enter sensitive information into the site search box.

Before you allow analytics, analytics storage is denied and Google Analytics operates without analytics cookies. Google may receive cookieless measurements such as consent status and basic page or event signals. If you allow analytics, analytics storage is enabled for fuller measurement. Advertising storage, advertising user data, advertising personalization, and Google signals remain disabled in either case. Your choice is saved in a first-party browser setting so the banner does not keep reappearing. You can change it at any time through Privacy & cookie settings in the footer. Advertising cookies and similar technologies

When advertising is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve, limit, measure, and personalize ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a visitor's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

Other third-party advertising vendors or networks selected through Google may also use cookies to serve ads. We ask every visitor before enabling analytics storage. You can allow analytics storage or keep only essential browser storage; declining does not limit access to the guide. With analytics storage denied, Google Analytics remains cookieless as described above. This choice applies to measurement only. If advertising is enabled in the future, we will add any required advertising consent controls before advertising cookies or personalized advertising are used.

Optional tips and Stripe

Tip buttons open a checkout page hosted by Stripe. China Travel Decoded does not receive or store your full payment-card number. Stripe processes checkout information under its ownprivacy policy. We may receive limited transaction details needed to identify a payment, address a payment question, prevent fraud, and keep financial records.

Service providers and international processing

We use service providers for hosting, security, email delivery, payment processing, consent management, and advertising. These providers may process data in countries other than your own and apply their own legally required safeguards. We disclose information when required by law, necessary to protect rights or security, or involved in a legitimate transfer of the publication. We do not publish or rent email correspondence to marketers.

Retention

We retain correspondence only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain editorial and correction records, resolve disputes, meet legal or accounting obligations, and protect the site. Hosting, security, advertising, and payment providers set their own retention periods under their policies and applicable law.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent. You may also have a right to appeal a decision or complain to a local data-protection authority. Children

This site is general travel information and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child sent personal information may contact us to request deletion.

We may update this policy when the site, service providers, or legal requirements change. The date above shows the latest revision. Material changes will be reflected on this page before or when the relevant processing begins.
