Why this place matters
Mutianyu is a restored section of the Northern Qi and Ming Great Wall, located approximately 70 kilometres northeast of central Beijing in Huairou District.
What to notice
- Cable-car, ropeway, and toboggan products are separate facilities and may have separate operating rules and tickets.
- Wear sturdy shoes; the wall has steep steps between watchtowers.
- The section is forested and offers greener views than some closer Wall sections.
- Bring water and sun protection; there is limited shade on the wall itself.
